The aim of the Chainsaw Cross Cut Course is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to trim and cut felled trees with a chainsaw.

Target Audience:

Members who will be using a chainsaw during operations to trim and cut felled trees.

  • FWPCOT2256 Trim and cut felled trees

  • General Principles of Tree Operations
  • Know Your Chainsaw and Equipment
  • Chainsaw Safety
  • Chainsaw Maintenance
  • Trim and Crosscut Techniques
  • Pole Saw
  • Formative Exercises

Learning Methods and Duration:

This course can be conducted over a series of training days and/or evenings. 
Training: 28 hours 50mins
Assessment: 3 hours

Course Entry Requirements:

  • Field Operator Foundation level training
  • 1 of the following:
  • Storm Ground Course
  • Participate in a Rescue Operation Course
  • Land Search Course
