The Vertical Rescue Course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to undertake Vertical Rescue in a range of emergency situations in natural and manmade environments.

  • One-on-one Rescue
  • High Directionals
  • Setup of the Basket Stretcher
  • Lowering and Hauling Systems
  • Operate VR Systems
  • Offsets and Cableways

Learning Methods and Duration:

This course is conducted over a series of training days and/or evenings.  The course is structured as a mix of information giving and practical activities that may involve travel to various locations.

Course Duration: approximately 25 hours
Assessment time: approximately 4 hours

Course Entry Requirements:

  • Field Operator Foundation Level training
  • NSW SES Participate in a Rescue (PIARO) Course
  • Fit for Role requirements for a Vertical Rescue Operator as per the Fit for Role Manual
