Situation Officer Course

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform the role of Situation Officer within an IMT.

Introduction:

Target Audience:

Members who hold the skills and attributes to be developed as a Situation Officer and members who are currently Situation Officers but have not yet attended a formal course.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Successful completion of Situation Officer

Content:

  • The function of Intelligence in Incident Management
  • Role and Responsibility of Intelligence Section/Units
  • Using the Geo-spatial Emergency Mapping System (GEMS)
  • Developing Situational Awareness and a COP
  • Preparing Situation Reports and Related Products

Learning Methods and Duration:

This course will be delivered via face-to-face classroom sessions. Course duration is two days.
There is a pre-course eLearning requirement (approximately 3 hours duration) to complete prior to the face-to-face sessions.

  • AIIMS Principles and Functions
  • Tsunami Awareness
  • Willingness and ability to operate as a Situation Officer in an IMT in the future
